Great article. I have to only disagree (and granted it's a matter of taste) with one assertion: "By the same token, not having voice for your character somehow makes the game seem like its missing something."

Like you mentioned in your write-up, as others do I read the dialog aloud while paying DA. So, for me, it's for more complete than guessing what Shepard's response will be based on some vague pseudo-response wheel. Since I'm a trained actor (and theater professor), I enjoy the feeling of "my" voice responding to the characters and feel like ME1/2 is rather limiting. DA is, for me, more of an RP game, where ME1/2 are more like Bioware attempting to become a movie company.

But as you say, it's mostly a matter of taste. I am only annoyed that DA2 is being shoved into an ME1/2 format, rather than allowing it to be an equal, but different, game.

I liked this write-up a lot. For what it's worth. I've played both games and I love both games and while I enjoy space more, enjoy the cinematics of ME2 more and enjoyed the combat more, the world in Dragon Age is amazing. The amount of work that went into creating an extremely complex world and story is breathtaking. I can't believe they did that work while also doing Mass Effect 2. Anyway, thanks for putting into words what I haven't been able to as well.
